Obtaining a visa/a residence permit
After official acceptance at INSA Rennes, non-European students must apply for a long-stay student visa (VLS-TS). Upon arrival, they must follow the online administrative procedure (ANEF) with the Department for Foreigners in France. This step must be taken within 3 months after arrival in France.
After one year in France and within 4 months before the expiry of their student visa, students can apply for a residence permit if they continue their studies.
European students do not need to apply for a visa or a residence permit.

Cost of studies
INSA Rennes is a public engineering school. As such, most of the cost of tuition is funded by the French government. In public institutions of higher education in France, the government bears the bulk of the cost of education: an average of €10,000 per student per year. Matriculation fees, accommodation and meal costs, however, must be borne by the student. Note that scholarships and housing allowances are available to those who qualify.
One year of study at INSA Rennes costs approximately €6200, accommodation and meals included but tuition fees excluded. This price varies according to the accommodation chosen.
