Join INSA
You can join the school in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or in 4th year.
Exchange students can join one of the seven engineering programmes for a one- or two-semester exchange.
Alternatively, there is also the option of following the traditional curriculum to obtain the INSA Master of Science and Engineering degree.
The engineering course at INSA Rennes
is organised over five years:
1st & 2nd years - Core curriculum
Students gain a strong foundation in science and technology, along with essential knowledge in human and social sciences, preparing them to specialise in their chosen field.
From 3rd to 5th years - Specialization
At the end of the second year, students select one of seven specialisations. These years shape the degree they pursue, allowing them to personalise their academic path through chosen options.

In 5th year: Master of Science
INSA Rennes offers students the opportunity to enrol in a Master of Science programme with a one-year training duration.
After graduation: PhD
Upon completing a Master of Science and Engineering degree or Master of Science, students have the opportunity to pursue a PhD through doctoral studies.
ECTS credits
At INSA Rennes, studies are flexible thanks to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), a standard used across Europe to compare academic achievements. Upon successfully completing courses, students earn credits, with INSA students typically accumulating 30 credits per semester. Course selection must be approved by both the home university and INSA Rennes.
