Research Innovation Entrepreneurship Career

Tailor-made to integrate the training of engineering students at INSA Rennes, the Research Innovation Entrepreneurship Career begins in the 1st year of undergraduate studies and is then offered as an option from the 3rd year. This course allows students to obtain a label who choose to follow it until the end of the 5th year.

The Research Innovation Entrepreneurship Career aims to respond to the needs and transitions of society, to develop not only skills in engineering sciences in a dynamic of sustainable development but also a state of mind based on the search for knowledge updated and the use of knowledge at the international level, particularly on the approach to highly complex problems and the critical analysis of situations. Finally, this specific course at INSA Rennes aims to promote careers as innovation engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs.

1st and 2nd year: Opening minds (required)

  • Presentation and visit to the laboratories and research teams hosted at INSA Rennes
  • “Research & Innovation” and “Innovation & Entrepreneurship” conferences and round tables
  • Scientific Integrity Course
  • Laboratory internship possible

3rd year: Affirm your choice (optional)

  • Research & Innovation” module: Discover the world of research and understand the scope of a researcher
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship” module: Encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of future engineers, stimulate their creativity and their sense of initiative

The student registers for at least one of the two modules.


4th and 5th year: Finalize your project (optional)

Your choice:     

  • Selective “Research & Innovation” course specific to each specialty with the obligation to complete at least one laboratory internship
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship” course: "Entrepreneurship and Innovation" module with a view to setting up an entrepreneurship project, specific Management Course module if the entrepreneurship project can lead to the creation of a business, possibility of an Innovation-oriented End of Study Project , possibility of continuing in MSc Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Participation in at least one innovation challenge/competition is mandatory on this course.
