Technologies for health, well-being and quality of life

This theme being, like INSA Rennes, multidisciplinary, it is quite natural that the institute focuses its research on the development of technologies for health. L'INSA Rennes collaborates with local or national health establishments, and develops solutions to improve quality of life, health and well-being. Drawing on their expertise in numerous fields (digital, mechanics, materials, etc.), the research teams at INSA Rennes are notably imagining new biocompatible materials, personal assistance devices, and imaging analysis tools for analyzing medical imaging or organizing care.

Technologies for health, well-being
and quality of life

Health and “living well”, major issues in our contemporary societies, are part of the research areas supported by INSA Rennes and its teams. Our researchers work in particular on:

  • Biomedical devices, biomechanics and tissue regeneration
  • Health care systems and organization
  • Health, lifelong autonomy and social impact
  • Lab-on-a-chip, nano and microsystems for health, diagnostics, biology and environmental analysis
  • Digital health: robotic, connected devices, digital twins, AI, big data and imaging

The IH2A Chair (Innovations, Disability, Autonomy and Accessibility) - A cross-disciplinary and inclusive academic chair

The IH2A Chair is a continuum from the research work carried out at INSA Rennes on assistive robotics and mobility assistance.

Marie Babel, Full Professor and head of the IH2A Chair

"The idea is to offer the most suitable technological solutions in order to compensate for sensorimotor disabilities limiting the mobility and autonomy of people in daily life tasks and leisure activities. The chair thus aims to perpetuate these promising activities both from a societal point of view and from a scientific and clinical point of view, and aims to be an effective and innovative system for the deployment of large-scale research. The chair is thus defined as a unifying tool, associated with a unique space for experimentation, through a shared vision of actors from scientific and clinical environments, for the development of adapted technologies, in a spirit of co-construction."
