ADAPT
This project aims to develop innovative assistive technologies to support the autonomy and improve the mobility of electric wheelchair users with severe physical or cognitive impairments. The project focuses on four main areas:
- the development of an intelligent, connected electric wheelchair (ERW) that compensates for users' handicaps through driver assistance technologies;
- the development of a virtual reality driving simulator for an immersive experience of the intelligent ERW;
- a training package for healthcare professionals on the benefits of digital assistive technologies;
- the signing of partnership agreements between research institutes and companies to create synergies and promote and disseminate the project's results.
INSA Rennes is working on a virtual reality wheelchair simulator, as well as on navigation assistance through shared control of the intelligent wheelchair.
