Fundamental physics and applications master's degree / Co-accredited 2022-2028

Photonics program

This Master's degree offers a specialization in Photonics, integrating the fundamentals of the physics and technologies needed to understand this field.

From telecommunications to medical imaging and renewable energies, photonics plays a major role in the design of today's and tomorrow's components and systems. Photonics has been chosen by the European Commission as a key technology of the 21st century.

Four engineering schools - ENIB (École Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Brest), ENSSAT, INSA Rennes and IMT Atlantique - and two universities - Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) and Université de Rennes - have joined forces to simultaneously offer Brest, Lannion and Rennes an advanced training program in optics, the Photonics master's degree, with three courses: Optical Telecommunications, Optical Nanotechnologies, Photonics for Life and the Environment.

This course draws on the expertise of CNRS laboratories in the co-accredited establishments.

This master's program has over ten years' experience in teaching photonics and in using the latest digital technologies for teaching (training supported by the digital campus plan).
