M2 Chemistry of solids and materials (CSM)
The M2-CSM is aimed at students with a good knowledge of solid state chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry. It aims to:
- train researchers and engineers for the materials sector;
- strengthen skills, from the synthesis of new compounds to the development of existing materials with a view to optimising their properties;
- develop a wide range of skills in materials analysis and characterisation techniques;
- prepare students to pursue doctoral studies in the Master's host laboratories or in major national and international groups;
- facilitate professional integration at a high level of qualification.
Terms and conditions of access
This course is aimed at students with:
- Master 1 in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science or Physical Science;
- 2nd year of a Master's degree in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Materials;
- 2nd year at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs in Chemistry or Chemitry-Physics;
- 4th year of the INSA engineering course, specialising in GPM;
- equivalent diploma obtained in France or abroad.
Expected
Candidates must have skills in the scientific disciplines of chemistry, physical-chemistry and materials science. They must also have in-depth work and organisational skills.

INSA Rennes does not offer the M1 programme and only receives applications for the M2 programme. The admission decision is made after examining the applicant's file.
